Overwhelming Harmony

Here, there and everywhere

Now, then and every time

Skies turn from pink to black in the evening

Skies turn from black to pink in the morning

It will be like that forever

No one can stop it. Never!

Different but so close to each other

Not the same but always together

Differences not necessarily divide

Complementarities sometimes arise

Although common sense rarely wins

And stereotypes too rarely lose

No need to change the whole world

Because our luck is worth more than gold

As much as insults, threats and violence

Are no weapons against insane confidence

The right and freedom to choose

Is a game where no one can lose

Step back and take a rest

There always is a cosy nest

But where to find hold?

Nobody ever has told

Is it in the country I was born?

Is it in the place I have grown?

It may be much closer

It may be much easier

What if it were in each of us?

Something that we never lost!

Life really is lovely,

Overwhelming Harmony!

Haiku Poetry Workshop

Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry which abides strictly to the following three rules:

1. it has only three lines,

2. each line conforms to the pattern of 5 morae (syllables) for the first line, 7 for the second and then 5 again for the third,

3. the theme must represent or include nature.

Modern Haiku is less likely to follow strictly the above traditional rules and thus we see today numerous variations of the Haiku style.

In order to provide you with an example I have created my first Haiku poem;

Seasons Change

Leaves turn brown,

lest no weeping as they fall,

seasons change for all.

See more example of Haiku poems by professional Haiku poet Basho, Matsuo and don’t forget to let us know whether you try this style yourself.

The Rhythm of Life

A poem written by blogcatalog members as a part of a poetry game. I initiated the game with a single line and then invited others to add a line, the only rule being that two lines cannot be written consecutively by the same person. I hope this poetic demonstration of teamwork. The verses are colour coded to represent each writer, you can click on the names to go to each writer’s blog directly. You can also visit the original game forum to see exactly what was going on at www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/a-game-of-poetry-no-2-cont…

TICK-TOCK HEAR THE CLOCK, HEART PUMPING, DON’T STOP,

WHEELS TURNING, CIRCUITS BURNING, REACH THE TOP,
HEAD FORWARD, VISION CLEAR, PACE YOUR HEART AS YOU STEP,
DON’T LOOK BACK, FORGET THE PLACE FROM WHERE YOU CREPT.

STAY THE COURSE, GUIDE YOUR HORSE, EVER ONWARD,
DON’T STRAY, STAY IN LINE, ALL ELSE IS CENSORED.
HANDS ON HIPS, WIGGLE QUICK, THEN STAND STRAIT AS A STICK,
STAY AWAKE, FOR YOUR SAKE, WHEN NIGHT FALLS BURN THE WICK.

LEFT HAND, WRONG HAND, WE ARE ALL AT THE MERCY OF THE SHORT HAND,
HANDS UP, EYES SHUT, DANCING BLINDLY TO THE TUNE OF THE WORLD’S BAND
KEEP YOUR HEAD UP, AS YOU’RE MOVING, TO THE MUSIC
BEND, DO NOT BOW, YOU’RE REALLY GETTING SOMEWHERE NOW.

SHINE BRIGHT, DO NOT HEED, STARS ARE ALL THE AUDIENCE YOU NEED,
SLOW AND STEADY WINS IT ALL, DON’T GIVE UP, DON’T TAKE A FALL.
DO NOT FOLLOW, TAKE THE LEAD, THERES NO RUSH NO NEED FOR SPEED,
TAKE HEART, YOU CAN START, DANCING TILL THE NIGHT DEPARTS.

TWO STEPS HERE AND TWO STEPS THERE, TWIRL AROUND WITHOUT CARE,
THE HEART HAS A SONG, SO LET IT SING, AND SING ALONG.
FEEL FREE TO MOVE AS YOU PLEASE, GO AND LET DOWN YOUR HAIR,
MIND STEADY, BALANCE KEPT, FROM THIS POINT IT CAN’T GO WRONG.

DANCE TO THE SONG THE WHOLE UNIVERSE IS SINGING
FEEL THE FREEDOM YOU SEEK, CAN’T YOU HEAR THE LIBERTY BELLS RINGING?
I FEEL MY HEART BEAT FASTER AND MY PULSES LEAP,
LAST TWIRL IN THE AIR BEFORE FALLING TO A HAPPY EXHAUSTED SLEEP.

Simply Me

I hold my head high,

And stride strong.

I don’t look left or right,

I look long.

The times I questioned my pride,

Are long gone.

They couldn’t know where I’m coming from.

I wear a smile,

All day long.

I don’t frown or grown,

I hum a song.

The times I questioned my persona

Should have been none.

They couldn’t know where I’m coming from.

I ooze confidence,

in being me.

I don’t quiver or crawl,

I know I’m free.

The times I questioned my strength,

Are totally done.

They couldn’t know where I’m coming from.

I laugh out aloud,

joy be heard.

I don’t hold back or lack,

I precise each word.

The times I questioned my nature,

Were deliriously wrong.

They couldn’t know where I’m coming from.

I move with grace,

and gentle ease.

I don’t negate or debate,

With life I’m pleased.

The times I questioned my principles

Were cumbersome.

They couldn’t know where I’m coming from.

Just as where I’m heading does puzzle thee,

So you try to figure incessantly,

Such a simplicity,

As Me being proudly Me.

Sick Love

Broken-heart-41_large

A love which is suspended  frailly in the air,

just out of grasp,  barely even there.

Holds my thoughts hostage like a child with A.D.D

restricting and constricting, screaming just thinking in me.

And like a slave, broken, my will is not my own,

and I only wish to forget, not regret,

Not to bestow a moment more in thoughts I wish to suppress.

I have fallen in love with imagery,

I thought, a moment, a memory.

And for my sins I am condemned to think in thee,

and for thine I cannot escape this misery.

This pain sits too comfortably,

and is tempting me to drink away the last of my sanity,

I strain to contain these feelings of utter distress,

I try my hardest to forget you,

but my hardest does not exceed my best.

Floating

Tumblr_lnkqpirk7y1qlztyio1_250_large

Just the sound of timid waves teasing the sands of the shore,

The simplicity of sand, sea and air is at our very core.

Rattling of dry palm leaves send whispers in the breeze,

A life of serenity, tranquility and subtle tender ease.

Floating on these gentle waves of crystal, turquoise, blue,

The sun dances on the water enticing you, enticing you.

There you let your body flow to a symphony you float,

Whilst looking at the white sails of a slow sailing boat.

Cool water trickles over your neck and nestles in your palms,

Cradled by a blue depth more assuring than a Psalms.

Rest now your free to forget the number of this dreamy day,

Close your eyes, take a deep breathe and peacefully float away

and peacefully float away.

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

You’ll look up and down streets. Look’em over with care.
About some you will say, “I don’t choose to go there.”
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet,
you’re too smart to go down a not-so-good street.

And you may not find any you’ll want to go down.
In that case, of course, you’ll head straight out of town.
It’s opener there in the wide open air.

Out there things can happen and frequently do to people as brainy and footsy as you.

And when things start to happen, don’t worry. Don’t stew.
Just go right along. You’ll start happening too.

Oh! The Places You’ll Go!

You’ll be on your way up!
You’ll be seeing great sights!
You’ll join the high fliers who soar to high heights.
